Sunlight stimulates your body to make Vitamin D. More and more studies are coming out that show that seniors have vitamin D deficiencies which may increase the risk for diabetes and heart disease. In fact, there is a link between vitamin D deficiencies and metabolic syndrome (a collection of risk factors for heart disease and diabetes).
In a study of over 3,000 people aged 50-70 in China, they found that 94% of the seniors had vitamin D deficiency.
